|Hardwood flooring made from
bamboo is versatile, durable and naturally attractive. It is stronger
than wood and incredibly stable. There are no knots in bamboo flooring,
but instead subtle changes in the grain that produce unique designs in
Tests have shown that bamboo flooring is significantly harder than red oak or rock maple, making it more resistant to dents and dings. It is two and a half times more dimensionally stable than commonly used wood flooring, which means itís far less likely to expand, contract or warp.
Installation of our flooring uses the same equipment and technique as other hardwood flooring. It comes precision tongue-and-groove milled, and can be nailed, glued, or floated.
A variety of flooring accessories are available including transitions, base shoes, stair nosings, stair tread and floor vents. Matching bamboo panels can be ordered for counter tops and cabinetry as well. All of our bamboo flooring products are available in both natural or dark (carbonized) finishes.
Bamboo used for our flooring is selected from managed agricultural farms. The plants are harvested every 4 to 6 years when the poles are mature and sufficiently hard. Selective harvesting has no cost to the environment due to bamboo's rapid regeneration properties. Only a portion of each plant is harvested, leaving most of the clump intact. Leaf debris returns nutrients to the earth. No soil is lost to erosion, and the cut poles begin to regenerate immediately. Itís a little like mowing the grass!
In addition, the use of bamboo relieves destruction of our endangered forests. Bamboo flooring is the ecologically responsible alternative to traditional wood flooring.

TIMBERGRASS: Fine Bamboo Flooring and Panels
Hardness: Testing to ASTM 1037
procedures, bamboo shows an average hardness of 1642, which makes it over 25
percent harder than Red Oak and more than 12 percent harder than Rock Maple.
Adhesive: The adhesive used in the lamination process has virtually no free formaldehyde (6.5 times less than allowed under the stringent European (E1) standards).
Dimensional Stability: Bamboo flooring produced a dimensional change coefficient of .00144 making it more than 2.5 times more stable than commonly used wood flooring.
Using ASTM E648 Critical Radiant Panel Test, treated bamboo flooring passes with
a Class 1 rating according to the NFPA "Life Safety Code," making it
usable in all building types.
Smoke Density: Testing to ASTM E622 where passing is 450 or less, bamboo flooring passes with a 270 rating in flaming mode, and a 330 rating in non-flaming mode.
Compressive Strength: Testing to ASTM 3501-86 A produced:
Compression parallel to grain: 7600 PSI
Compression perpendicular to grain: 2624 PSI
Modulus of Elasticity: 940,000 PSI
Tensile Strength: Testing to ASTM 3500-90 A yielded results of 15,300 PSI parallel to grain.
